QCASE members celebrated 2019 Chinese New Year on Voyager Cruises

On 3 February 2019, over 160 people including QCASE members, families, friends and invited guests gathered together on the Voyager Cruises to celebrate the 2019 Chinese New Year.

The celebration party was joined by special guests: Consul-General Dr Jie Xu and his wife Madam Ailan Cao, and Consul for Science and Technology Mr Dechun Chen of the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Brisbane. In his speech, Dr Xu first extended his sincere greetings and best wishes to everyone for the coming Chinese New Year.  He introduced the achievements of China’s economic and social development and the reform and development of science and technology innovation, and reviewed the progress of China-Queensland cooperation in science and technology. He said I am grateful for the long-term commitment to promoting the technology and education cooperation between China and Queensland. He encouraged everyone to actively participate in promotion of the collaboration between China and Australia, and China and Queensland, and make greater contributions to promoting the development of bilateral relations and enhancing the friendship between the two nations.

QCASE President, Dr Hua Guo summarised the achievements of QCASE, especially the continued collaboration between QCASE and Northwest University for Nationalities (NWUN), and the 2019 Australia-China Science, Technology, Commercialisation and Innovation Forum successfully held in Chongqing, China. He also thanked Consul-General Dr Jie Xu and his wife Madam Ailan Cao for their presence at the QCASE’s celebration of the Chinese Spring Festival. Dr Guo also thanked the support of the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Brisbane to QCASE’s various activities in the past year. In addition, Dr Guo thanked QCASE members for their support and selfless contribution to increase QCASE’s profile in Queensland and China, and promote scientific and technological collaboration between Australia and China. He wished everyone a great and prosperous Chinese New Year, and to enjoy the festive night.

During the party, everyone enjoyed the delicious food, shared good wishes, and had a beautiful night on the Brisbane River. The party provided a great opportunity for networking, not only for our members but for their family and friends too.
