Feb 14, 2018 | News

On 11 February 2018, over 100 people including QCASE members, families, friends and invited guests gathered together at the beautiful riverside restaurant Blackbird Bar & Grill to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

The celebration party was joined by special guests: Consul-General Dr Jie Xu and his wife Madam Ailan Cao, Deputy Consul-General Ms Li Zhou and Consul for Science and Technology Mr Anming Feng of the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Brisbane.  Dr Xu extended his sincere greetings and best wishes to everyone. He thanked QCASE and its members for their contribution to fostering and promoting exchange and cooperation in science, technology and education between Australia and China.

QCASE President, Dr Hua Guo thanked Consul-General Dr Jie Xu and his wife Madam Ailan Cao for their presence at the QCASE’s celebration of the Chinese Spring Festival. Dr Guo also thanked the support of the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Brisbane to QCASE’s various activities in the past year. In addition, Dr Guo thanked QCASE members for their support and selfless contribution to increase QCASE’s profile in Queensland and China, and promote scientific and technological collaboration between Australia and China. He wished everyone a great and prosperous Chinese New Year, and to enjoy the festive night.

After the delicious dinner, one of the highlights of the party was the choir performances by teams from UQ, QUT, Griffith and CSIRO. A traditional Chinese Tai Chi was performed by QCASE member A/Prof Longbin Huang of UQ. All the participants of the party enjoyed the performances. The party provided a great opportunity for networking, not only for our members but for their family and friends too.

In addition, the party allowed Consul-General Dr Jie Xu and Dr Hua Guo to formally launch the QCASE new website. The new QCASE website has an exciting new look and enhanced functions. It provides a great platform for continued exchange among the members of the Association and better promotes QCASE in Australia and China by enhancing the connectivity of its members. The new website has been test-running since the QCASE 2017 Mid-Autumn Party.  The 2018 QCASE membership registration and this Chinese New Year Dinner Party booking was trialled through the new website successfully. While these updates have been working well, further improvement and refinement will be carried out in the coming months. If you have any suggestions and comments to improve the new website and related functions, please contact Dr Binzhong Zhou using email:: admin@qcase.org.au.
